Cutting off the cowling is an interesting procedure. The cowling requires two fibreglass flanges to be made on the inside so the cowl can be reattached to cover the engine. Once the flanges are made, one to the firewall and one onto the cowl, holes are drilled all around and only then can the cowl be removed. In this picture the cowl is being held in place with glued on tongue depressors while the flanges are curing. Once everything has hardened the depressors are chiseled off and the cowl removed. |
