Another twelve days have gone by since I was here last and this will be the last week this month I will be able to come out to the hangar. I have five antennas I need to get mounted hopefully inside the aircraft so I started with the easiest one first which is the folded dipole for the transponder which I have mounted in the nose of the aircraft. This antenna comes with a piece of balsa wood that is placed between the antenna and the fuselage. I used structural adhesive and bonded it all at one time. The next antenna is the GPS/XM antenna which is going on a fiberglass mount underneath the windscreen. I covered a piece of foam with duct tape and then one layer of BID tape, one layer of Triax, and finally another layer of BID tape. I covered it with peel ply, clear plastic and two 4X4s to hold the square shape. Once that had cured I cut out the holes for the two coax connectors and the four bolts holes and put it in place under the windscreen with clamps. |
