Really good day today as I got a lot done. I started by marking the fuselage 2 away from the bottom and top strakes and then sanded all the primer off the fuselage so when the BID tape goes on it will adhere properly. I also took 2 of primer off along the edges of both strakes. Then came the tuff job of cutting open the fuselage for the glove compartment on the pilots side. I measured the distance from the gear bulkhead to the start of the opening on the co-pilots side and transferred that measurement to the pilots side, followed by drilling a small hole through the fuselage to know where to start. I gave myself a of leeway so I will be able to make small adjustments later. I marked a line on the fuselage following the inside of the lower strake and again gave some room for error. Once everything was marked out I used the dremel and a cutting wheel to cut through the two layers of the fuselage. |
