Ron Chalifoux ( a good friend) came out with me today to lend a hand putting on the top strake. We started by practicing so we would not smear the structural adhesive to much when we placed it on. I mixed up 8 oz. of each part, (Hardener and Epoxy), followed by a good measure of Cab-o-sil to stiffen the mix. Then I placed the concoction into a freezer bag with the corner cut off and proceeded to put down a bead on all surfaces. I did not know how much to mix for each side and as it turned out I was 4 oz. short so I had to mix up a little more. Once everything had a good amount of adhesive we laid on the strake and weighed it down with sand bags to insure a good seal. The next side I mixed up 10 oz. of each part which is all I had left in the two quart cans and using a clean freezer bag proceeded to do it all again. After both sides were done and weighted down we left it to cure overnight.
Here is the finished pilot side. |
