I am getting close to having all the Garmin equipment installed. The last piece that I have is the transponder, which is a remote unit so it will not be seen in the instrument panel. The mounting cage has three screw holes inside the bracket which are not easily accessible. There are two holes at the leading edge and one hole at the back end of the cage. I started by drilling one of the front holes using a Dremel tool and tapped it for an 8-32 screw. With one in place I marked the rear hole, moved the cage aside, drilled and tapped again and inserted the screw in order to mark the last hole. With all three screws installed I put nylon locking nuts on the bottom just to make sure nothing vibrates loose. You simply slide in the transponder and using a 3/32 Allen key in the hole below the black pull tab you lock it to the cage.
